THE NATURE OF THE BEAST

Author:  Louise Penny
Genre:  Cozy Mystery,
Armand Gamache Series #11
Published:  2015
Personal Rating:  3.5/5 (good)
Format/Narrator:  Audiobook/Robert Bathurst
Yearly Count:  52

While Armand Gamache and his wife are relaxing in Three Pines following Gamache's retirement, a local boy runs into the village with another one of his tall tales.  He soon disappears, and the village wonders if there could have been any truth to his tale.

I am always eager to read the next in this series, but I rarely find them outstanding.  However, I do enjoy Louise's writing and characters, the storylines just haven't interested me much.   That's what happened once again with this one.

The narrator Robert Bathurst had HUGE shoes to fill.  He did a good job, and I enjoyed his voice in general.  I didn't care for it much when Robert became dramatic (especially with Gamache's character) or when Robert did the voice of some of the other characters.  Although, overall, I think he's a good choice/fit.  It will just take some time getting used to him.

  1. I can see how this new narrator will take some getting used to. I have the book, in print, and it's next on my list. Looking forward to it so much, as usual. :-)
