ReplyDeleteI haven't done my final tally for 2006 yet because I have (probably unrealistic) ideas of finishing just one more book before the end of the year :-)
Of course I'd have to put the computer away and trade blog reading for book reading in order to accomplish that ;-)
That's some great reading! I've got The Book thief and The Glass castle on my list for 2007.
ReplyDeleteHi Joy! I am in the TBR challenge with you! just wanted to say that I loved 50 Acres and a Poodle. and one of your books on the TBR list, Sister of My Heart, is A GREAT READ!! I love Chitra Banerjee Divakurini!!!! She is a great author and tells great stories!
ReplyDeleteI managed 103 books this year, down from last year. I had to give up reading time to have time to deal with a 16 year old! I loved Night, Book Thief, and Water for Elephants. I'm going to have to find One Foot in Eden and Hell at the Breech - you and Suzi both have listed them as top books this year.
ReplyDeleteSuzi ~ I gave that hope of reading another book up...obviously. I wasn't able to get much reading in over this holiday break, so figured I may as well post the ones I did.
ReplyDeleteLazy Cow ~ Happy Reading to you! Both are good reads.
Laura ~ You've got me all geeked to read SISTER OF MY HEART! I can't wait. :)
Lynne ~ Hi there! Oh yes...HELL AT THE BREECH is a favorite of mine and it is a genre that I never thought I would enjoy. Hope you like it. Congrats on the fine reading total. Wow!
Hi Joy,
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping a comment on my blog. "Hell at the Breech" is on my TBR list, and I got Franklin's latest book "Smonk" for Christmas and I LOVE it! There are a couple of books on your list that I've never heard of, so I'll have to take a look...thanks for the recommendations!
95?!? Holy Moly! I hope 2007 is as equally as bookish for you!
ReplyDeleteWow! congrats on you two hudge accomplishments ! 95 is a great number to have read!It will be hard to beat that in the New Year
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list, Joy! I have read only two of the books you mentioned and enjoyed them both. The Glass Castle I read this year and last year I read Night.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all the effort and time you put into your blog. I enjoy reading your posts.
Kookiejar ~ Ahhh, another Franklin book. I forgot about that. I will have to get my hands on that one!
ReplyDeleteOrange ~ I hope your 2007 is book-filled as well. :)
Nessie ~ I still want to know if that is YOU standing on your head.
Literary Feline ~ Thanks, but I believe you are the Queen!
Wow @95, Joy! Five more and you would have hit a century! :) I have no clue how many books I've read this year...I would have tallied them but I don't think the final # would too impressive!
ReplyDeleteAll the best for the new year, Joy!
Oh, I didn't know that you had read Gentlemen & Players - I was just at the bookstore and wrote down the name so I could add it to my Bookmooch account! Now after reading your review I am really excited to read it. I have also heard that Sleep, Pale Sister by Harris is good.

Great list, Joy! You read a ton of books! Glad to see Jeanne Laskas' book on your list. :) Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThree of these books are already on my list. Probably because I read your reviews on them. I'd better skip the others so I can keep my list under control. But I know where to find it if I yield to temptation.
ReplyDeleteLotus ~ It sure was tempting to squeeze 5 more books in to make that 100, but I really was already pushing it.
ReplyDeleteStephanie ~ I haven't read any more by Harris, but I'm sure going to. I hope you like G&P.
Les ~ Yep, it was a good one. Remember it was between that and the "L"ewis book. You encouraged "L"askas and it made the list. :)
Framed ~ It's amazing how many books end up on the TBR list, isn't it!?! I literally have a little spiral book filled!
What a great idea, showing your favorite books of the year. :) Thanks for the suggestions!
