I'm posting my list for yet another challenge, but I am not sure if I will be able to follow through. I've been wanting to read these books and this challenge helps to motivate me, yet I don't want to feel any pressure; therefore, I give myself the permission to read what I want, when I want and if I want. If I complete it...great! If I don't, that's okay too. I will certainly give it a good try.
I LOVED IT! :)

I added a lot of Newbery for my choices too. We have Roll of Thunder & Number the Stars in common. The Witch of Blackbird Pond is one of our fav. all time read alouds!
ReplyDeleteThe Mixed-up Files is delightful -- you'll enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great list. I've been thinking of changing some of my choices to more Newberry's. I have Island of the Blue Dolphins on audio to listen to on my trip down to the beach next week.
ReplyDeleteGlad you joined, Joy.
ReplyDeleteI like your new look!
Amy ~ I look forward to reading your thoughts on them.
ReplyDeleteTristi ~ Oh...that's good to hear. Thank you.
Nyssaneala ~ Happy Reading! And I hope you have a great time!
3M ~ I've had these on a TBR list forever...just never got to them. I'm thinking over a year I should be able to fit one in every now and then. :)
3M ~ Oops forgot to say ... thank you. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Mixed-Up Files is one of my all time favorite books from elementary school!! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHarriet the Spy and Tree Wagon were two of my other favorites from that age.
Suzi ~ I wasn't a reader in elementary school, so I missed out on a lot. :( Actually many of these have been in my classroom and I've never read them. I need to get caught up!

Great list. I read The Higher Power of Lucky a month ago and was quite impressed after all the hooha over the "bad" word.

Lisa Jean ~ Someone else on the Book Awards blog just told me the same thing. Maybe I'm going to use that alternate after all.
ReplyDeleteI actually joined a Newberry challenge. It was a nice break from heavier reading.
ReplyDeleteAnother TBR participant.
Happy reading.
Sarala ~ I saw the Newbery Challenge on somebody else's blog after I decided to join this one. I believe it was already in progress though. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteOh, I loved Island of the Blue Dolphins, it is one of my favorite childhood books and I actually still have my worn paperback copy. I have never read the NIMH book but the movie holds a special place in my heart as a treasured childhood memory of seeing that in the theater with one of my aunts.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the challenge!
Lesley ~ I'm looking forward to my choices. I hope they hold my interest and don't seem too childish. :) I plan on using them as "inbetween" books.
