Challenges, Challenges, Challenges!!!

Oh my goodness!
I just signed up for my THIRD challenge and I said I couldn't participate in ANY until my own New-to-Me Author-Based A ~ Z Reads was complete. What am I thinking!?! Being in a current state of "reading deprivation", I'm thinking I want to read all the books I can...and these challenges provide the perfect avenue for me to pursue that goal. How could I pass up such fun? I couldn't...so I'm in!

  3. I love the disclaimer :-) I've never done a challenge before and I'm signing up for 2 of them. Never read any Updike, but have The Witches of Eastwick on my shelves. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on Run Rabbit Run, and Mrs Dalloway, which I'm still trying to complete.
Of course you can link to me! I'd be flattered.

  4. I too like the disclaimer. I have a major problem making lists as you may have noticed with the From the Stacks Challenge. I changed 3 of the books, but they were still on my list. So change when and if you feel like it. I may, too. Glad you're joining in, Joy.

  5. I forgot to mention that I love the warning signs: Warning Challenges Ahead. Very cute!

  6. I like the warning signs too. It's a great idea. Good luck with the challenges! You've got some great choices there for the classics challenge and I look forward to seeing what you decide to read for the TBR challenge.

I doubt I'll take on the chunkster challenge. Or maybe Anna Karenina can count for my one if we're allowed just one! Haha

    Happy Reading!

  7. First of all, I wrote on Lolita on my blog and would love to have you post a comment of what you think once you are done.

The Power of One is one of the best books in the Universe. It has completly changed my life. The sequal is Tandia. I also have a review on it on my blog. Everyone on planet Earth and in the galexy should read this!!!

And Lonesome Dove... I loved as well but in a very very wierd way. I ALMOST signed up for the Chunkster but then desided that if I do that I wont be able to continue supportingm yself. i will have to quit my job.

  8. I understand only doing one chunkster. See if it were me I had 3 MEGA chucks:

    Moby Dick
    Jonathan Strange
& A Suitable Boy (both Volumes)

To keep the last strands of my sanity I had no choice but to simply live catharticly through my fellow blogging book buddies.

  9. Lotus ~ Choices are up! We can paddle in that boat together. :)

Suzi ~ I really don't know what I was thinking.

Lazy Cow ~ Yikes! You are still trying to finish two of my choices. Hopefully I will be able to get through them.

Booklogged ~ Thank you for sponsoring the Winter Classics Challenge. As you can see, I haven't read even the basics. :) This is a good opportunity for me to catch up a bit.

Literary Feline ~ I'm not sure if only one chunkster is "allowed", but that's all that I think I can muster.

Nessie ~ "Chunksters" intimidate me! I don't know how you can read so many. I'm planning on putting myself on a slow, but steady reading schedule to get through it. I'm looking forward to it because I've wanted to read it for a very long time.

  11. I never even thought of only doing one Chunkster. That would relieve a lot of pressure. Still haven't made my final decision on any of these challenges.

I loved the "Year of Wonders" and can't wait to see what you think.

  12. Ex Libris ~ LOL! :)

Framed ~ We can always add a book if we finish early.

I've heard very good things about YEAR OF WONDERS and the author Brooks. I'm looking forward to it. It's nice to have another endorsement. Thanks.

  13. Hi Joy,

My husband, HUGE reader, hands me Lonesome Dove all the time. He sees me stumbling around, tripping over stacks of books, looking for my next victim, and gently hands it over. It's one of our jokes, because I look at the girth and commence to hide it in another stack, which he has to find and retrieve for my next quest. Well, with bookfools challenge I'll be able to break this vicious cycle... :P

My plan is to hunker down in June and read it all in one go.

Year of Wonders was awesome, and sweetie gave me March for Christmas!

Oh, thanks for saying something about The Good Earth! I think I will put that on my TBR challenge list, um, due today! :)

  15. Maggie ~ At the rate I'm going with LONESOME DOVE I'll be reading it in June, too!

Amy ~ Oh good! I'm looking forward to both of those.
